Tis the season for action
Hi !
How long do you keep your New Year's resolutions for?
Behind saying an actual amount of time, the real answer is, "However much capacity you have in your life at the moment."
Some years you might have a greater capacity than others, depending on where you are in your life.
It is easier to create different habits, especially healthier ones, if you focus on all levels- Physical, mental, emotional, spiritual/energetic.
If accomplishing more professionally or athletically is one of your resolutions, that is of course strongly related to the physical aspect, however your other "bodies" need tending to as well in order to increase that capacity to stay consistent and do what is needed.
For example,
mentally you need the discipline that it takes to achieve those goals.
In order to have discipline it is important to be in right relationship with your thoughts- to know that you can prepare yourself to observe the thoughts that come to you that try to pull you off track.
The false-self is so good
at trying to convincing you to take a day, or more, off or to cut corners, jump on your phone, etc.
Or it can be good at trying to motivate you through fear with thoughts such as, "If you accomplish this you'll finally be seen and admired or loved the way you want."
Be careful when using fear as motivation.
It can help you accomplish quite a bit, but will catch up to you at some point by making you less physically, mentally, and emotionally resilient.
Ultimately, focusing on
loving yourself and what you are doing more deeply, presence, and patience will take you further and help you stay more consistent.
The balance of loving your process and letting go of the outcome is really powerful.
The energetic/spiritual side of your being:
You are made up of energy, similar to
turning on a light switch with a dimmer.
Sometimes you can turn up the frequency and shine brightly, and sometimes dim it and feel sluggish.
Basically, what you put into your body can either drain your energy or fill it up.
Your digital consumption does the same, so be careful what you watch and how much time you spend in
front of a screen.
As you can imagine, this blends into the physical side of your being.
Distractions are everywhere and very tempting.
Meditation and being in nature are amazing ways to increase your energetic and
your other three bodies.
Your emotional body:
Connecting with your emotional body is an extremely powerful tool to help you keep your energy high.
Listening to uplifting music and even dancing around help your endorphins flow is a nice easy way to keep you motivated.
Sitting with and deeply feeling your "negative" emotions helps them flow through you, as opposed to becoming stuck in your physical body, which leaves you vulnerable to illness and injuries, as well as having difficulty recovering from them.
When sitting with your intentions for the new year and Winter Solstice, one recommendation I have to you is to add in being more present and patient.
As mentioned above, there are so many distractions these days, both internal and external.
It's so easy to get caught up, often without really realizing it.
The more you can be honest with yourself and observe yourself being distracted and not present (without judgement of yourself), the more you can come back to it.
It's as simple as taking a couple deep breaths and coming back to
what is showing up for you in the moment, whether it's training, work, play, parenting, or even eating.
Presence and patience.
As always, I am here for you to
help you if you need.
Blessings on this change of the season from the fall- letting go of what is no longer serving you and setting new intentions of what you want to bring into your life to...
the winter- time of action, power, strength, and balance.
