Building energy with your breath
Hi !
If you read my newsletter last week, I encouraged you to ask yourself this question:
What can I let go of in my life that drains my energy?
Did you think of some habits, things...or people?
Sometimes you don't need to let go of them completely.
You can also create a new relationship with those things and people as well.
But, if you don't get much (or any) benefit from them, it is probably in your best interest to let them go...in a conscious and kind way of course.
Once you do that, you'll find yourself feeling more energetic and, my favorite word of the season: POWERFUL!
You'll be ready to build more personal power/energy and, most importantly, hold onto it and not leak it quickly.
One of the ways to build more energy and keep your frequency high is through your breath.
We all of course breathe, but it's almost always unconsciously.
The average person breathes 15 times per minute, which comes out to 2 seconds inhale and 2 seconds exhale.
As you can imagine, athletes, such as soccer players, take many more per minute and much shorter inhales and exhales when exercising.
Whether you're an athlete or not, it's important to have enough oxygen in your bloodstream to create energy, allowing your muscles to function at their best.
If you're similar to many people, especially in the US, you breathe shallowly and through the chest mostly.
This engages your sympathetic nervous system- your flight or fight response.
That leaves you on high alert more often than not instead of relaxed and in the flow of life.
Being in that state, ready to deal with stress, anxiety, fear, pressure, and more is an unfortunate aspect of living in the fast-paced, accomplishment driven society.
As you can imagine, whether you're an athlete or not, being in that state most of your day leads to feeling fatigue, depleted, and not being able to perform at your optimal level when you're working, training, or whatever.
It's time for you to be optimal in all you do!!
Here's a quick fix for you:
When you wake up, and before you jump out of bed (or after you use the bathroom and before you do anything else) take five minutes to focus on your breath.
Sit down in a chair or your bed (but not lying down).
Place your hands on your stomach and take a deep breath extending your belly outward. Feel your hands move with your breath.
Slow your breath down to four counts inhale and four counts exhale and focus on the energy going from the base of your tailbone up to the top of your head on the way up and down the front of your head to the groin on your way down.
That activates your pituitary gland, which helps balance your hormones.
Remember to inflate your belly on the breath in and deflate it on the way out.
After you do four or more of those, slow down to seven seconds inhale and seven seconds exhale, still focusing on the belly and bringing the energy up your spine and down the front of your head and torso.
That activates your pineal gland, which helps you tune into your intuition and also your psychic ability.
Any high-level athlete or any other person who is successful and confident in life uses intuition in what they do more often than not.
If you do this for just 5 minutes in the morning and before you go to bed, your life will shift tremendously!!
Try to take some deep and slow belly breaths throughout your day and if you're an athlete, do the same during pauses of your activity- halftimes, ball is out of bounds, etc.
There's so much more to breath and how to generate power with it, but I wanted to share this quick exercise with you.
I'd love to hear your feedback on how it goes for you so please feel free to reach out and let me know.
If you feel someone you know will enjoy reading this, please forward this to them.
