"Out with the old" must happen before "in with the new"
Hi !
Before the sounds of the noise makers and the pops of champagne enter your energy field to celebrate the new year, you might be a person on the path of personal growth who decides to make changes in your life.
The word "resolution" is defined as, "a firm decision to do something" and, "a course of action determined or decided on."
Notice the phrase, "firm decision".
This is a contract you energetically (or physically) sign with yourself that says you vow to live your life differently than in the past.
The intention is great and it's easy to start off with a bang, just as if you're starting a race at a track event.
However, changing patterns is not the 100 meter dash, it is a marathon.
You do have to start strong but also know it takes discipline and patience with yourself.
You might slow down, you might even backtrack but the important aspect is to move forward again and stay in your lane.
It is easy to be influenced by others, which results in going back to the way things were for you...and them...
...especially if they don't have the same resolutions as you.
Stay in your lane.
Do you remember any resolutions you made in the past that you did not keep as long as you wanted to?
You are not the only one.
It is likely that you did not fully let go of those old patterns and belief systems that no longer serve you.
Letting go of old patterns and beliefs is a slow unwinding process that does not happen over night.
It's amazing what patterns you can hold onto, even those harming your physical and mental health, because your ego tries to maintain control.
I experienced that myself and found myself breaking past resolutions, especially the ones involving wanting mental end emotional changes.
What I found helped me tremendously is continuing working with my own Transformative Life Coach and skyrocketing that support with a one-year Shamanic studies program.
A small portion but massive part of Shamanism is learning to use nature and elements as allies.
You can use fire to support your New Year's resolutions.
Here's what I did last year that you can do:
1) sit quietly and take a few deep breaths
2) think about what is no longer serving you in your life...what you want to let go of for the upcoming year- habits, beliefs, actions, etc.
3) it is important to stay neutral about anything you have not accomplished, "failed" at doing, habits you keep engaging in, etc.
You always were doing your best in every moment of time.
4) write down those things you thought about
5) on another sheet of paper, write down what you want to bring into your life- better health, wealth, relationships, etc. Feel into having those as if you already do.
6) carefully create a fire of some sort and give your first sheet to the fire so it burns fully.
7) thank the spirit of fire- "Tatewari", a.k.a. "Grandfather Fire" to the Huichol, an indigenous people from Mexico.
8) place your second sheet that states what you want to bring into your life next year in a place where you can see it and review it periodically.
I hope you enjoy that process!
